The Click-it is jam-packed with meaty articles this week – lots of stuff you can really use from some of my favorite writers/fundraising and marketing communications experts. Plus, of course, some fun stuff. And at the end you’ll find some great opportunities to get amazingly high-quality training, and it won’t cost you a dime!
Silos Be Gone!
Click-It: How Fundraising Is Turning into ‘Fund Marketing’ is a post I wish I’d written! It comes from Gail Perry via NonprofitPRO (formerly Fundraising Success), and discusses how the digital revolution has caused fundraising and marketing communications functions to merge. I’ve argued for 30 years that they shouldn’t be separate silos, so I say Hallelujah. Ideas that spread, win. And marketing is just the art of getting ideas to spread.
Online Fundraising
Click-It: 5 Ways Your Nonprofit Can Raise Money Like charity:water. Julia Campbell outlines some of the ways your nonprofit – no matter your size – can emulate the astounding success this nonprofit has had raising money online. And, guess what? A lot of your success will come from integrating your fundraising and marketing efforts (as discussed in the article above).
Donor Engagement
Click-It: How to make every donor want to give to you by Mazarine Treyz hits the nail on the head. One take-away that resonated with me was about first impressions. I once had a brilliant boss who dressed up our offices precisely because she wanted to create a warm, welcoming space for both donors and clients. She said “Why do social services offices have to look so ‘social servicey’?” Indeed! We all know how much first impressions count, yet somehow we forget this when it comes to the way we present ourselves to our constituencies. What about your website and donation landing pages, for example? Why not dress them up with compelling photos or videos?
