Click-it: Measuring Impact of Online Advocacy: Best Practices from BBCon2013. What’s the purpose of the folks with whom you share online. Third Sector Today shares some great tips from the recent Blackbaud Conference. Here’s one I like, from Feeding America’s advocacy strategist: “it’s ok to have advocates for the sake of having advocates; recognizing that advocacy is important and they might never turn into donors…” There’s a value to the individual advocate’s ability to reach and influence others and it’s important to remember that.
Also, the Ocean Conservancy shares this about the importance of setting and communicating an advocacy goal: “We are asking for 5,000 people to sign this petition to send to Congress.” It’s important to communicate when you’ve hit that goal and achieve that success.

Transactional Email – or Transformational?
Click it: What is a Transactional Email? This post from Hubspot got me thinking. It’s about making intentional use of autoresponders to build a relationship with your constituents. So, what they call transaction I call transformation. Because what you’re doing is taking the customer from the single transaction to an ongoing, meaningful relationship that should hopefully be a win-win for both of you. If it is, then it can become transformational. Because you want to transform these one-time actors into ongoing supporters. Do you have a transformational email response program set up?
