An eclectic mix this week – mostly designed to make you think. We don’t take enough time to think about what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, do we? In the end, thinking saves us a lot of time, preventing us from doing the wrong things (even if we do them the right way). So… gives yourself some thought space.
Psychology of Color
Two infographics from our friends at Hubspot:

Click-It: How Colors Impact What We Purchase [Infographic]. Did you know research shows that 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text? After reading this, you might want to change the color of your “Donate” button! (I’d consider a red-orange myself).
Connect to Audiences
Click-It: Old Fundraising Ways, New Fundraising Ways by Pamela Barden in Fundraising Success reminds us that no matter what way you choose to connect to your audience, you’ve got to know the ONE purpose of your communication. Is it to educate? Engage? Ask for a donation? You’ve got to do a lot of the former before you get to the latter. Research continually tells us donors want to know more about the impact of their giving! As this article notes: “In 2012, Grey Matter Research found that nearly six in 10 non-donors believed that any gift they made to a nonprofit would be consumed in such an extent for overhead that it would not have a real impact on mission fulfillment. How can you show them (not just tell them) how a gift to your nonprofit will change things for the better?” Check out the full article for more solid advice about how to motivate your target audiences to join you in your mission.
